Parallax

If you gave me pennies,

I could turn them into nothing

except little copper fishes

and meridian lines.

When I went outside tonight,

I measured the cheek of Jupiter

with the edge of my nail

and ring finger,

and linked him up to the toes

of Orion.

Under the haze of the night's jacket,

all the mutant horses

and faded bears play against me;

they move and I seem to stand still

on this planet which is absolutely

flat.
